Quote from Captivated

"I stood close to the edge looking down at what I thought was my death. Then, I somehow ignored the water and only saw him. He looked like a dark angel on a cloud of mist holding his arms out to me. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. Then I jumped." Mindy - Captivated, An Affliction Novel

I can't believe I lost it!!!!

Get this...I lost the files to Unattainable! I have all my chapters on a flash drive because I'm paranoid that my computer is going to catch another virus and destroy my files like the last couple of times. And I LOST IT! I've been tearing apart the house looking for it with absolutely no luck! Please tell me I don't have to start all over. :(

Kill me now...

Title to Second Book!!!

CHANGES, An Affliction Novel

I didn't choose another 'C' word on purpose! Believe me, I was trying to get around that, but nothing seemed to be feeling right. If you read Captivated, you'll know that a lot happened towards the end of the book. You might have an idea of why I chose this title. Dean's life changes (and it isn't for the better), Mindy's life makes a drastic change, and Markus is along for the ride.

I know many of you enjoyed Deans point of view towards the end and  I loved writing in his POV. I'll let you in on a secret, a lot of it is written from his eyes, his heart, and his rage. You'll see another side to him and you'll probably want to jump in the book and be there for him. I also write from Markus' POV, that part was fun! You'll see how much of a true friend he could be, Markus will touch your heart. Of coarse, I can't leave out Mindy, I'm going to show you a new world from her eyes.

All in all, CHANGES, kept leaping out at me when I was searching for a title. I was hoping for a cooler word, but it just wasn't happening.

I know you guys are dying to know what happens next and I'm sorry for the cliffhanger, but it just had to happen! I'll be posting the cover to CHANGES within the next few weeks! So exiting!

Books Turned to Film...

We see it everywhere, but most of us are unhappy with the results, including myself.

Take Vampire Diaries, the show is okay and I watch it, but it's nothing compared to the books! Man, I was eating the series up and couldn't wait to see it on my TV screen! I was disappointed. :(  If you haven't had the pleasure of reading the books, I HIGHLY recommend them (I stopped reading in the middle of Shadow Souls, it just wasn't the same).

True Blood was another victim. It was as if the producers never picked up a book from the series. And what's with all the orgies in the second season? The third was better, but I just haven't felt like watching the fourth. I have a friend that read the entire series faster than I ever thought possible and she couldn't wait to watch the show. She bought seasons one and two and was sourly disappointed. I was happy of coarse because she ended up giving them to me! :)  (I really enjoy watching Eric)

I know this isn't a book, but it's still something I was disappointed with. Dragon Ball Z...yes, I watched it as a teen! I was hooked and so were my brothers and my mom. *sigh* The movie was embarrassing and it could have been bad ass, but it got screwed up too. I mean, I enjoyed it a little, but it had soooo much more potential.

Fallen by Lauren Kate, Evermore by Alyson Noel, and many others were picked up for film. I hope Hollywood won't disappoint. If they would just stick with the story-line we fell in love with, everything would be fantastic! Oh well, at least we can open the book back up and imagine our own characters. :)

What happened to Halloween?

I know this isn't book related and all, but I really wanted to write about this.

What happened to Halloween? I remember when I was a kid, I used to get all dressed up and be out of the house by 6:00 to go trick or treating with my brother and parents. The dad would stay in the car and my mom would walk us to all the decorated houses. And practically all the houses were lighted up with orange and purple. There were all sorts of scary decorations. I even sat on a scarecrow and made fun of how fake it looked until it moved! I high tailed it out of there and ended up on the other side of the street in two seconds! There was also walk through houses where everything was scary and if you wanted candy, you had to go in. Every time our little trick or treat bags would get full, we would dump them in garbage bags we kept in the car. We wouldn't get home until midnight and it was because we were tired, not because we ran out of houses.

And now...

I have the ONLY house decorated in this community! Before my cousins turned into teens, I used to take them trick or treating and it was pretty lame. I think we would only hit up 10 houses in the neighborhood, most of them only had a porch light up and a bucket of candy sitting on a chair next to the door. When I lived in Texas a few years ago, I went to the store to buy a whole bunch of candy for the trick-or-treaters and we didn't get a single knock on the door!

I get it, evil people that need to be beat up to a bloody pulp ended up poisoning the children's candy, putting razors in the candy apples they passed out, and even poisoned the cookies. So, it ended up being dangerous for the trolls. Damn it. But we can still celebrate can't we? We can still decorate for the kids, we can still dress them up, we just have to check every piece of candy for them before they dig in.

We need to bring back Halloween!!!

An introduction...

Welcome to my blog! This is the first time I've ever done something like this, so please hang in there...lol. I'd like to start off by giving you a little peek of where I came from.

Let’s see, my childhood was alright, I had a loving mother and I dropped my father. That’s why you won’t see me writing about a father daughter relationship in any of my books. But I didn’t let that effect me, I told myself I didn’t need a dad anyways and moved on! You are in control of how you turn out, not a lousy father. ;)
As a teen, I was raised around my hardcore aunts. I say that because being made fun of practically every day was brutal! Thanks to that, I developed a tough leathery scared up skin that enables me to take jokes and laugh at myself. I love them for it! Now I see my younger cousins go through it and I join in on making fun of them. You really have to be able to take a joke if you want to join my family…lol, we see new comers as fresh meat for the taking. But all in all, I can’t be more grateful for family. And if you don’t have a united one, they don’t have to be blood. I’ve seen it and experienced it, give it a shot.
I have two kids of my own now and I’m having fun with it. I just know that I’ll be the type of parent that embarrasses their kid in front of friends. I’ll put on a mean face on around my daughters boyfriends and make them fear me. Or I’ll always bring up my gun collection and how my dog Cujo injured her last boyfriend. You know, things of that nature. J
Being a teen was the most fun I’ve had in my life so far. Of course it was, I was in perfect shape and my goal was to get a body like Jessica Biel (I was almost there until I got pregnant). I had laughs with my friends and of course there were cute boys, causing trouble, and staying out late. That’s why I decided to write a young adult series. Captivated is a package of the laughs teens have, the crushes on their minds, of course there’s drama, and having fun. Yes, there are vampires in it and yes, there are hot guys with muscles, but it also has everything else. I haven’t bumped into a teen novel with all these elements and it was something I wanted to read, so I wrote Captivated. I wanted to put dry humor, sarcasm, the annoying girl that you hate, the nerd, and everything else that is real in high school. The feedback is amazing and I’m happy that all my fans noticed the elements that made my book unique!
So I thank everything about my life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Everything that has happened to me has given me all the tools I needed to begin my writing career.
Thanks for reading a snippet of my life!
